Usually, when a baby is born, they can expect to be looked after really well and receive the special care every newborn needs and deserves. The delivery would’ve taken place in a clean surrounding at a well equipped hospital. To parents, their baby is the most important in the world, and indeed, every baby is made in God’s image and precious in His sight.
The Bible tells us that Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Son of God, in a manger because all the inns were full and they had no other place to stay. Jesus, the King of kings, and Lord of lords, God Himself, the most important Baby ever, was born in such a lowly place! Jesus came to die for our sins so we can be right with God.
This Christmas, I pray the Holy Spirit will help you recognise who Jesus is and help you make a special place for Him in your heart as your Lord and Saviour.
