If you want apples, you’d plant an apple tree. If you take a branch from this apple tree and plant it, you can eventually grow another apple tree that produces fruit. To get apples, you need to plant apple trees. If you want good fruit, you plant good trees.
In the Old Testament, God promised His people the Messiah who would deliver them in the future. God would go on to describe how the Messiah would act and speak, as One sent from God. God also tells them the Messiah would come from the line of king David, whose father is Jesse. This would prevent just anyone from claiming to be the Messiah. Just as we know where the apple comes from, what it looks like and tastes like, we can also be confident that Jesus is the long awaited Messiah because of what the Bible tells us about the Messiah.
This Christmas, I pray that you will recognise and receive Jesus the Messiah, the ONLY One who can deliver you from your sins and help you get right with God.
